TEXT IN TRANSLITERATION:
sree bhagavaan uvacha
sundurdarsam idam roopam drrshtavaan asi yan mama
devaa apy asya roopasya nityam  darsana kaankshinah
SANSKRIT WORDS AND PHRASES AND THEIR MEANING IN ENGLISH:
sudur darsam = very hard to see: idam = this: roopam = form: drrshtavaanasi = thou has seen: yat = which: mama = my: devaah = gods: api = also: asya (of) this: roopasya = of form: nityam = ever: darsana kaankshinah = (are) desirous to behold.
TEXT IN ENGLISH:
Very hard it is, indeed, to see this form of Mine which you have seen. Even the Devas are very eager to see this form.

COMMENTARY BY SRIMAT SWAMI CHIDBHAVANANDA:
In the scale of evolution, the Devas are superior to human beings. But their knowledge of Iswara is in no way higher than that of the human aspirants. In the spiritual enlightenment that Arjuna has had just now, he has excelled the Devas who are also ardently trying to probe into the mystery of the Supreme.

COMMENTARY BY SRIMAT SWAMI SIVANANDA:
Lord Krishna says to Arjuna: “Though the gods long to behold the Cosmic Form yet they have not seen it as you have done. They can never behold it.”
Just as the Chataka (a bird) longs for a drop of rain eagerly turning its eyes towards the clouds, so also do gods yearn to behold the Cosmic Form but their wishes have not been gratified even in their dreams. Such is that marvellous vision which thou hast easily seen.

Comments by the blogger:
God’s creation does not finish with our world with its flowers and fauna.
Indeed there are several lokas or worlds of which except the Hindu saints and seers other people belonging to other religions are not aware.
Likewise, the inevitable rebirth after our death also has not been comprehended by other religions.
Meditation is one of the Gifts of the Vedic and Upanishadic Seers to this wide world. They sat on a place cross-legged in the famous lotus pose and shut the eyes and brought the other four senses also under severe control and concentrated on a particular thing like the lotus feet of the Lord. Concentration is yet another contribution to the wide world by the Hindu Seers to the world. However, concentration and Meditation are not one and the same thing. While we concentrate all the five senses are under the inexorable control of the sadhakas or Practitioners of Yoga. Meditation is not possible without concentration. The mind which can’t be focussed on a particular thing and is tossed this and that way is utterly unable to Meditate. After the Practitioner masters his mind and learnt the art of concentration the next stage is Meditation. Unlike well-focussed concentration whereby the mind does not sway and stays focused on a particular thing Meditation involves a continuous thought on a particular idea or attribute of God. In concentration, the mind stays without any movement and when that is learnt by the Practitioner he starts to meditate on ideals like Truth, or any other attributes of the Lord Master and thinks and contemplates deeply and continuously on the very same thought. Many sides and shades of the idea gets meditated upon by the Practioner. The Sanskrit term “dhaila dharai” means like when we pour the oil of any kind from one vessel into another there is a wonderful view of a continuous line of the oil and it seems to be stationary instead of flowing continuously. Likewise, there is a continuous contemplation on the ideal chosen by the Practitioner.
While talking about the art of concentration Srimat Swami Vivekananda says that the one and the only object of education is to teach concentration to the pupils. He also opines that our modern type of education does not teach the art of concentration. That instead of teaching concentration the present day education system teaches to learn by heart information endlessly. Teaching the learning of information about something will not increase the power of the mind. Once the pupil learns concentration he or she can understand anything by concentrating on it. The art of Concentration and Meditation have to be learnt by all. These gifts by the Vedic and Upanishadic Seers and Saints will save the world and enhance the power of the mind of the Practitioners. These arts are one of the Spiritual Assets and Tooles of ancient India.
Sri Krishna says in this Sloka or Verse that “Even the Devas are very eager to see this form.”
Deva Loka or the world of the Devas is not somewhere beyond the pale of our Sky. Take for example the movements and flights of the eye-less and therefore sightless bats. How do they fly without coming into contact with and dash against any barrier which should pronounce their death as though they have sharp eye-sight? Well the bats send out sounds at a particular frequency it travels in front of them and if there is any barrier the sound wave will get refracted to the bats and thus they avoid collision with any objects! But the sound wave and its reflection to the extra-sensitive receiver of the bats take place almost simultaneously and without any loss of time! This way the bats can fly continually as if they have perfect and cool eye-sight! Well, you may ask why should I relate this to you. My objective is to make the readers and viewers realize that the particular sound frequency is denied to Man’s comprehension.
Like this, there are several worlds containing God’s Creation which are outside the ken of human beings. Indeed different waves control the World! That is, the different worlds exist here among us with differing frequencies and wavelengths which are beyond the comprehension of the Human Beings!
The Devas are superior to Human Beings. But despite their supremacy, they have not been able to see and witness the Cosmi Form of the Great Lord. But a human being, Arjuna, has seen the ineffable Form of the Lord. It speaks volume for the kindness and regard the Bhagavan Krishna had for his mate, Arjuna.
The sight of the Lord’s Cosmic Form by Arjuna is very very rare indeed. The Devas have not been able to see this Form so far and they will not witness the Bhagavan’s Universal Form in future! God is the creator of this Universe and He is the Cause and Stay of this Universe. The whole Universe is the Lord’s ineffable Body! This is a fact which was understood by the Vedic Saints and Seers many thousand years ago!
