THE HOLY GITA
CHAPTER NUMBER 09
RAJAVIDYA RAJAGUHYA YOGA OR THE YOGA OF SOVEREIGN SCIENCE AND SOVEREIGN SECRET:
VERSE NUMBER 07
Text in Transliteration:
sarva bhootaani kaunteya prakrtim yaanti maamikaam
kalpakshaye punas taani kalpaadau visrjaamy aham
Text in English:
All beings O Kaounteya, go into My Prakriti at the end of a Kalpa. I generate them again at the beginning of the next Kalpa.

COMMENTARY BY SWAMI CHIDBHAVANANDA:
When Brahma the Creator goes to sleep it is the end of a kalpa, extending into a thousand yugaas. It  works into an incalculable crores of years of the human standard. Then the entire manifestation goes into the unmanifest state and remains dormant for an equally long period which is Brahma’s night. When he wakes up again, the universe with the multitudinous beings comes into manifestation. This is the eternal process.

COMMENTARY BY SWAMI SIVANANADA:
Prakriti: the inferior one or the lower Nature composed of the three qualities, Sattva, Rajas and Tamas.
Just as the grass grows from the earth and dries up in the earth, just as the ripples and waves rise from the ocean and disappear in the ocean itself, just as the dreams proceed from the mind and melt away in the mind itself when the dreamer comes back to the waking state, so also the beings which arise from Nature merge into it during dissolution or Pralaya.
Pralaya is the period of dissolution. Maha-Utpatti is the time of creation.

Comments by the blogger:
A kalpa extends into a thousand Yugas or 311,040,000,000,000 human years!
Within this frame should be accommodated the evolution of species and Big Bang.
Sri Krishna is silent about another 311, 040, 000,000,000 except that the beings remain dormant in His prakriti. Wouldn’t it be the time for a kind of coagulation of all the heavenly bodies and become one great gigantic planet, with the ice age having set in full fledge? The centre of that one planet would be hot and the outer part icy. And at the end of the 311,040,000,000,000 years period, there should be a fresh Big Bang, yeah?
We can only conjecture. Our understanding of the Lord is so little and we are so puny that these things are better left to the experts.
There is a saying in Tamil: “kandavar vindadhillai; vindavar kandadhillai.” This roughly translates into, “Those who speak about It have not found It; those who have found It have not spoken about It!”
God has hidden himself very well in the prakriti, says Swami Vivekananda.

Moreover, the Lord addresses Arjuna as the son of Kunti, which should mean, all average ordinary beings born of the womb of a woman. The Lord says to us that we, ordinary average persons, as distinct from the realized souls, are utterly powerless when the Brahmas’s night begins, and go into His Prakriti or Nature at the end of a Kalpa; and He generates us again at the beginning of the next Kalpa. We are so ordinary and powerless we simply obey Lord Master!
